Martha Bayles writes regularly for the Weekly Standard, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and Wilson Quarterly.  Her work has also appeared in the Washington Post, Atlantic Monthly, and Harper’s Magazine.  She is the author of Hole in our Sole: The Loss of Beauty and Meaning in American Popular Music (University of Chicago Press).  She teaches in the honors program at Boston College.
